The title is appropriate, but it will be especially funny to a family member. Karsie LOVED the fish at the aquarium. However, the two ladies to the right of her almost got punched by Michelle. One in particular kept saying, rather loudly, things like: "Look at that baby's belly! It's so BIG. Look, look! It's just so big and enormous!" On the video you can actually hear her say "Look at that kid. Look at the belly on that kid." We're usually tolerant of curiosity because, well, seriously, it's rare you see a baby with Karsie's condition. But this lady had a different tone that brought out Michelle's Mama Bear instinct.

I don't blame you Michelle. At first I couldn't hear it and didn't see anything. Then I listened without looking and could hear it, "Look at that kid...." Then I watched the video and saw the women actually pointing right at Karsie! What control you had!

Ah yes. The insensitive cruel people of this world. Imagine when I had my baby and they would all whisper and stare instead of saying she was cute. Even though she was the cutest baby with Down's in the world! I would want to launch right there in the grocery line.
ReplyDeleteShould have knocked them out Michelle! Sorry, no tolerance when it comes to Karsie. =) If London had been there she'd have knocked them out for sure!
ReplyDeleteShe's lucky Nana wasn't there! The older I get the less tolerant I am! Especially when it comes to my sweet Karsie. And you should have seen grampa's face when he heard it!
ReplyDeleteThat is SO horrible! I can't believe those ladies did that. What unbelievable behavior from adults! You showed incredible restraint.
ReplyDeleteKarsie, meanwhile, continues to be as adorable as ever. I loved watching her watch the fish!
I'm so sorry Michelle. People can be so rude and insensitive!
ReplyDeleteOh MY gosh! Before I watched it I thought, "Well, maybe she just thought Karsie was really chubby in the tummy or something." Because, honestly, people make comments all the time (not that they SHOULD) about how chubby kids are. I admit, I was giving her the benefit of the doubt. But then I watched it. And she was so totally not suggesting that Karsie had a chubby tummy. Honestly, if it had been me I might have had to look her square in the face and launch into a medical lecture on just exactly why her belly looks like that.
ReplyDeleteKarsie-- You are the CUTEST! I want to drive to CA right now and kiss you on your adorable little face 8,000 times. But I won't, that would surely overwhelm you.
Do you know what I do? If they are being rude like they were I turn to them and ask if they have a staring problem and if they want to know why Blair's belly is so big then JUST ASK! I am always glad to tell people that she is my miracle baby and how she was born!
ReplyDeleteKarsie is just SO cute! Love her and her big belly!!!!
I posted a while back, so I am not sure if you remember me...I am friends with Kristin Posey (in Texas) and she had told me all about Karsie. My name is Bernie and my son James was born with an omphalocele. He also has Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome and as such, had a big tongue (we have since had it reduced surgically). I feel so much for you that the lady at the aquarium was so obnoxious. It just breaks my heart. People would stare and say things about James' tongue and I remember that Mama Bear coming out. Simply classless. I am proud of you that you didn't clock her...good for you! On a side note, I just have to tell you how gorgeous Karsie is. She is absolutely beautiful! Good luck during the rest of her recovery and have a wonderful summer! God bless!

Karsie likes trying to catch fish just like her Grampa!

I just saw this, and it was awesome. I love the title.
ReplyDeleteAnd that crazy lady in the background...I hope she has a reaction like that to everything she sees.
